BILLS and more Bill's!

Crikey, the tenant only moved out on Thursday and already the Council and  Water supplier have sent  invoices for advance payment of charges. We did a check on the property earlier in the week and there is only a couple of  things need attention. A leak under the sink and a new shower screen which they are sourcing.

We met three estate agents yesterday and they all gave the same valuation. We're open to sensible offers but all of them said it's an attractive house because its modern and has parking for 3 cars which is quite rare.   It will go up for sale on Monday and I'd love to think we will get a first time buyer. It would be a great start to the new year if it was all done and dusted by end of January.

I went to power up my laptop this morning and it's dead. Unplugged in the power lead and it's still dead. The caps lock is flashing, so I removed the battery and nothing. I googled potential problems and it says could be charger as a lap top can work without a battery if connected to power supply. So I've ordered a new cable and pray that's what it is, after all it's only 3 years old.   So all posts will completed on my phone until I can get the laptop up and running. How I hate computers ......grrrrr

I'll leave you with a photo of my fur baby Bertie having a nap, he always makes me feel better. Oh how I've fallen for him, hook line and sinker. Bye for now, Tx

  1. I had the same problem with my laptop and battery some time ago. I took the battery out for several hours then put it back and it was OK. My techie chappie muttered things about static but don't ask me what. As far as I'm concerned it worked and that was all I needed to know.

    1. Thanjs for that, I've tried a few things and still no joy. Logically it must be the power lead and not the battery. But I'll keep trying, its si frustrating.

  2. I've got my fingers crossed the house will sell quickly for you. Technology is great until it goes wrong, hope the new cable is all that's needed. Your little boy is very cute. Have a lovely weekend. xx

    1. Thank you. Technology normally let's you down when you really need it. My daughter has thankfully printed off the estate agents paperwork. Bertie is very cute but his teeth are like needles. Ouch!

  3. Good luck with the house sale Tania, parking for 3 cars is very good.
Sorry to hear about the laptop problems, always something isn't there.
My technical issues have been resolved.
Have a good rest of the weekend.

    1. So pleased your technical problems have been resolved. I'm hoping it's just a power lead. Enjoy your weekend too. X

  4. Fingers crossed for the house. A first time buyer, achieving their dream, would be really lovely.
Fingers also crossed that the laptop thing is nothing, just 'static' or whatever.

    1. I've removed the battery and plugged it into the mains. The caps lock flashes which means power problem. So I'm assuming it's the lead not charging the battery or delivering power direct to laptop. They're a pain aren't they!

  6. Good luck with the house sale. Just talking to friends that down sized and moved on the weekend. They had just bought a new lap top a week ago and the plug in cord was lost during the move. They went to buy a new one and were told that the computer is so new they have no replacements for it. Can't even get through to the manufacturer on the phone!! Very frustrating for them. Hope the new cord works for you when it arrives.

    1. That really is frustrating. My lap top is 2.5 years old. I still have my old one but the keyboard doesn't work. I've dragged it out and I'm currently applying all the updates. I'll get a plug in keyboard if necessary.

  7. We just updated the power box bit of our older PC with a re-conditioned one off Amazon for £100. It is great. As powerful as my husband's expensive one! I'd like to get my laptop back but at 5 years plus I knew it would be a dead end to have mended and my replacement tablet has proved OK but not great. Technology, some days it just is too complex...

    1. I always have my suspicions that the makers write something in the software so they go bust just when you need them most!!!

  8. Best of luck with your house sale. Have you found a place to move?

    1. We aren't moving, it's a house we bought 9 years ago to rent. It was a pension pot. The government have been eating away at landlord benefits so it's time to get out.

  10. Good luck with your house sale and the laptop. It seems the luck of the draw with electrical items and computers - our expensive Apple went down just outside the guarantee period with a seemingly common fault that Apple will not acknowledge and we have had two replacements for a Russell and Hobbs blender stick!
I am nervous around dogs but Bertie looks very cuddly!

    1. It's so annoying when manufacturers don't acknowledge a problem. It happened with my Fitbit.

  11. I hope the house sells quickly too - as you say, parking for 3 cars is a definite plus in the UK. And that puppy is just too cute - it really is a dog's life isn't it!

  12. Good luck with your house sale. I'm selling mine at the moment - have had had two offers after four days but will go to auction as I need to get best price.

    1. Where do you live Margaret if you don't mind me asking, only auctioning in the UK is normally not that good. I hope you get the price you want.

    2. I live in Auckland, New Zealand and here it is almost all auction but varies city to city. Looks as if it may work for me this time anyway.

  14. Blimey, the council etc. didn't hang about did they! Hope you manage to get a buyer for the house nice and quick. Bertie is so gorgeous, but it's tiring being a pup!

  16. Just to let you all know that there are different grades of plastic parts and chips in electronic goods. They are known to last and fail just outside the guarantee period be it 1,2,5 years etc. My son did a degree in electronics and communications and learned this on the course. Not fair but true.

  17. Try unplugging the laptop. Remove the battery and then press and hold the on button for about fifteen seconds. put the battery back in and plug in the socket then switch it on. It works for me every time... fingers crossed that I haven't jinxed myself.
